Updated: Dec 6, 2021

Looking for holiday activities to do with friends and family? We've curated some you can do in town and at home.

Ice in Paradise

Located in Goleta, CA is an ice rink perfect for family outings or gatherings with friends during the holiday season. Public skating sessions occur Monday through Friday at 9-11 AM and 1:30-4:30 PM. Saturdays the rink is open 1:30-4:30 and 7-9:30 PM. Sundays are open 1:30-4:30 PM. Admission costs $15 and skate rentals cost $5. Friday from 7:15-9:15 teenagers get free skate rentals with student ID. College students can enjoy free skate rentals on Tuesday nights from 7:00-9:30.

West Wind Drive-in Theater

Enjoy a movie right from your own carseat in a unique viewing experience. The West Wind Drive-In is a perfect holiday activity for those looking for an easy and fun way to spend time with friends and family. General admission is $8.75 while children ages 5-11 are $2.00. All children 4 and under are free. Tuesday nights are family fun nights, with prices at $5.75 per person and $2.00 for children ages 5-11.

Host a Food Drive

Begin with a group you are looking to support. In Santa Barbara County, some options could include the Santa Barbara Education Foundation or the Channel Islands YMCA. Set a goal and promote the event using fliers, online social media, or even word of mouth. It’s a great way to give back this holiday season as well as get more involved in the community.

Have an At-Home Movie Night

No need to go to the theater, having an at home movie night is a great way to celebrate the holidays. Put on any family friendly and inclusive holiday film with a side of snacks and hot chocolate and you have the perfect holiday activity.

Bake Something

The holiday season is a great time to indulge in some homemade desserts. Baking is a wonderful activity that anyone can enjoy! Gather the ingredients for your desired recipe and get in the kitchen. It is also a great way to teach younger children about the science of baking. Once your dessert is out of the oven, all the effort will be worth it!
